The Host Body I-Suppression (Healing)

The Host Body examines the body as a regulating system: a host that contains, filters, absorbs and redefines what emerges within it. This host may be biological, geological, architectural or civilisational, sustaining life while also determining its limits.
The Host Body II-Anomaly (Newborn)

Across the series, the works trace how systems respond to deviation through containment, reclassification and assimilation. In Suppression (Healing), internal growth meets a surface that both protects and restrains. In Anomaly (Newborn), what is perceived as abnormal may instead signal the arrival of a new force. Aftermath (Afterlight) considers what remains after assimilation, where the residue of conflict persists as a glow that may be mistaken for illumination.

The Host Body III-Assimilation (Advancement)
Acrylic, quartz sand, soil, mulberry paper, gauze, polypropylene fiber on canvas

The material processes reflect this logic. Layers accumulate, fracture, seal and merge; soft matter presses against hardened surfaces, while industrial textures dissolve into organic grounds. Each painting stages a negotiation between emergence and regulation, expansion and containment.

The paired titles—Suppression (Healing), Anomaly (Newborn), Assimilation (Advancement) and Aftermath (Afterlight)—reveal how systems of control are often reframed as care, progress or illumination. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the series asks how language and perspective shape our understanding of growth, survival and transformation.
