Inspired by Chinese landscape painting and the abstract spatial language of Zao Wou-Ki, this series transforms landscape into a field of movement, texture and sensation. Using a palette knife, the artist repeatedly layers, scrapes and displaces paint, creating surfaces that suggest mountains, rocks, water and mist without describing a fixed place.

Untitled I. Oil on canvas, 50 × 40 cm

The works draw upon the Chinese expression “as light as a feather, as heavy as Mount Tai,” exploring lightness and weight as interconnected states. Air, colour and movement appear to dissolve, while accumulated pigment carries the density of memory, emotion and time.
